2 Samuel 17:1-29 John 19:23-42 Psalm 119:129-152 Proverbs 16:12-13
Verse of the day:
The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. (Psalm 119:130)
Down through the ages God has been consistent. He has provided light in the darkness by revealing His Son through His Word. When we draw our nourishment and strength from His Word, we experience Life. Today, His Spirit and His Word still work together to produce the life of Christ in anyone who is humble enough to seek Him.
When you pick up the Bible, don’t let the enemy rob you of its power. Make sure to read its words through the Light God has placed in it. Don’t bend or twist it to make it say what is convenient or comfortable to you. Seek the “Jesus of the Word.” Approach Him with a childlike dependency on His Spirit for your illumination and His word for nourishment. It is then that He will reveal things to you that you otherwise might miss.
Choose to live by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Approaching Him in this way will give you understanding into the ways of His kingdom that will shine light on your pathway. Remember, "His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path." Let us learn to walk in the light we have been given, and keep our focus on Him not looking to the right or the left—it is then His light will shine, not only on us, but through us as well.
