The Lord Is With You

Verse of the day:
But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden (Genesis 39:21 NLT)
‘The Lord was with Joseph’. Over and over this statement is made in the telling of Joseph’s story. I don’t know about you, but I tend to think that if the Lord is with someone, favor and success will be evident in their life. Yet Joseph’s story is one of demotion after demotion after demotion. And God was with him? Perhaps Joseph was tempted to ask God to be with someone else!
How much of a difference does it make to have God with you? As we can see in Joseph’s story, it makes all the difference. Time and again, even during demotion, Joseph received favor and rose to places of leadership. No one would ever desire to become a servant, and after that a prisoner, but God used it all to bring Joseph to the palace.
The Lord was with Joseph, and because of that God led him through hardship. When you’re in trouble and your back is against the wall, you know you need help. But Prosperity and success will test your reliance on God far more than hardship. Very often God will lead you and me through difficult seasons first and then advance us to success. God places great value on our faithfulness to Him.
Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Remember today that God is with you.
