Verse of the Day:

Psalms 25:21 “May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.”

Anyone taking a casual look at our society today can see that many people’s moral compass is broken or missing. Society has succeeded in blurring the lines between what is right and what is wrong. Truth as become fluid. Or has it?

Can our opinion or perspective actually change Truth? The fact is, truth is not relative. There are absolute truths that are absolutely always true. Today’s verse sheds some light on one of those absolute truths. Integrity and honest protect me. When we live lives of truth telling and high moral actions, we can live with a peace in our lives. Honesty is always the best policy.

While raising my kids, there are times that they do things that they should not have done. Be it an accident, poor choices, or just plain disobedience, I have always tried to teach my kids that they need to own up to their actions. If they lie about it, they will not only receive the punishment for the original negative action, they now will compound their punishment by adding to it dishonesty. In teaching this lesson, there have been times that I have had to explain to my kids that the punishment they are receiving is not a result of the original action. Had they been honest, they would not have been punished at all. However, because of an attempt at deceit, they now will receive a more severe punishment.

When we are dishonest, the person we usually end up hurting in the end is ourselves. Dishonesty wraps our lives in the web of lies and deceit. There is no freedom in lies. However, when we chose to walk in the steps of integrity and honest, we find a protection surrounding our lives; no webs or chains to hold up back. Honestly frees God up to offer grace. Dishonesty binds him. Choose today to allow God to bless you. Put your hope in him and live a life of integrity and honesty.
