One Year Bible Reading Guide:

2 Kings 10:32-12:21
Acts 18:1-22
Psalm 145:1-21
Proverbs 18:1

Verse of the day:

One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. (Psalm 145:4)

What we know about God is confined to our small brains, our limited experiences, our willingness to read about the great deeds of God in Scripture, and our hearing of his incredible work through the lives of older Christians. There is nothing quite like listening to older, grace-filled brothers and sisters in Christ who know our Lord and his power through worship, obedience, and experience.

As we move forward in life, we must invest God’s goodness and greatness into the next generation, and the one after that, and the one after that—it is a never ending responsibility for the Christian. As we mature and gain a deeper understanding of God through His Word and His power and faithfulness in our lives, we gain a wealth of life-giving knowledge to pass on.

Passing this personal knowledge of God’s greatness on to our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even our great-great-grandchildren, (should we be so blessed), is the best legacy we can leave behind. Not only does it preserve and keep relevant the mighty acts of God, but it helps equip those who come after us for whatever they may face in life.

Let us so live our lives that we accumulate an undeniable, firsthand account of God’s greatness and faithfulness. A man or woman equipped with a personal testimony cannot dissuaded. And those around will see the authenticity of our relationship to God and will also benefit from it.
