Romans 7:1-13
Psalm 17:1-15
Proverbs 19:22-23

Verse of the day:

What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar. (Proverbs 19:22)

Unfailing love is something that we as humans all long for. We long to feel that no matter what mistakes we make we will always be loved and have a place where we belong.  French writer Victory Hugo said, “The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved—loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.”  Is it possible to find that kind of love in any earthly relationship? Well, since we don’t live in a world that operates like a Nickolas Sparks movie and we live in a world full of broken selfish people the answer is no.  Broken people are not capable of giving perfect, fully satisfying all the time, unfailing love.

But we still have that desire for approval and unfailing love. We see this desire on display every time we open up Instagram or Facebook where we see all the pictures and posts that are longing for you to click like and show your approval.  And as much fun as it is to get a bunch of likes on a picture it still doesn’t give us the unfailing love that we desire.  If we want true unfailing, fulfilling love we have to stop putting the emphasis on trying to find it in others and look to God as the only true source of perfect, unfailing love.  When we look to Him first we can then release those around from the pressure of having to fulfill us in a way that they were never designed to, and then we can be freer to be blessed and enjoy the love that we do receive from others.

Are you feeling frustrated by the love that you are receiving from friends or family? Is it possible that you have placed an unrealistic expectation for fulfillment on them? Instead of being frustrated look to God as your source of where you receive love. You will find yourself more content and satisfied in your relationship with Him and with others!
