You’re Making Me Uncomfortable
Posted: Thursday, April 12
Verse of the Day:
Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! (Luke 15:1-2 NLT )
Is there anyone who makes you uncomfortable because of how they look, what they wear or what they do?
Take it a step further.
Are you ever offended by the music someone listens to, the words that they use in conversation or the bumper sticker on their car?
Jesus broke down cultural barriers. He moved toward people that others moved away from. As a result, they were drawn to Him.
Luke tells us, "Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach” (Luke 15:1).
Jesus offered more than just a passing hello. He engaged with those who were outside the mainstream - “even eating with them!” (v. 2).
Sit down with people, even if it raises the eyebrows of those who are around you.
Instead of moving toward the person who everyone wants to talk with, seek out the person who no one is talking with.
Every person on the planet has value in eyes of God. He cares far more about what’s happening on the inside than the appearances we portray on the outside.
When we approach those who are different from us and even make us uncomfortable - we are reflecting the character of God.
