Zechariah 4:1-5:11
Revelation 14:1-20
Psalm 142:1-7
Proverbs 30:21-23

 Verse of the day:

‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6)

There are some things in life that just never seem to change for the better no matter what we do. Disobedient kids, lazy coworkers, unfaithful spouses, unhelpful government and the list goes on and on. It’s discouraging, disheartening, and can even lead to a loss of faith. So as Godly people, how do we endure when those around us are failing and we’ve given it all we got to make lasting change?

The encouraging message from the book of Zechariah is that there is nothing we can do in these circumstances. You can scold, discipline, and complain until you’re blue in the face but if the problem with an individual is a heart issue, then it’s beyond our limit. Thankfully, God Almighty tells us that it’s not by might or power, but by His Spirit.

The Holy Spirit has abilities far beyond our own. While we’re blessed with free will, God has the ability to work within the core of who we are in a way that no one else can. The problem comes down to sin, more so than simply doing wrong things, it’s the virus stemmed down to who we are. Only God can remove that from a person. God is a powerful, loving deity so continually ask Him to change the difficult one’s heart. Trust not in your ability, might, or power when it’s something only God can change.
