Proverbs 23:1-3

Verse of the day:

Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people. (Proverbs 22:29)

This summer I received a call from a local business owner. The reason for his call was simply to say 'thank you'. Earlier in the year he hired two college-age employees that attend Oak Creek Assembly of God and these two individuals have impressed him so much that we wanted to thank the church for these employees! Great workers will always stand out, and when believers do their jobs with excellence the King takes notice.

I think an excellent role model for us as workers is Joseph in the scriptures. You could say he started off in an entry level position [slave] in Potiphar's house. Joseph stood out because he did his job better than the other servants; he had more character and was more diligent. Potiphar took notice and placed Joseph in charge of his whole household. Years later after proving himself to be a faithful worker in many challenging environments Joseph did stand before Pharaoh, king of Egypt where he was elevated to be second in command of the whole country.

No matter where we work or who we report to it's important that we remember who we ultimately work for. We are working for our King and one day we will rule and reign with Christ. So go ahead, it's ok to stand out at work today!
