Have you ever felt like nobody cares for you? Have you ever felt overlooked or rejected? If you have, you are not alone. I have felt like that as well and, in the Gospel of John chapter 9, we find a man that felt like we have.
He was blind, and nobody cared. Everyone had grown used to seeing him by the side of the road begging. Unable to work, to lead a normal life. They assumed that either he or his parents had sinned, and this was divine punishment. They had seen him many times and yet had a hard time recognizing him. Nobody cared about him.
That is until Jesus finds him by the side of the road. Jesus cared for him. In fact, Jesus loved him. So, without asking him, Jesus spat on the ground, made mud, and placed it on his eyes. Then, Jesus instructed this man to go wash himself in an old pool of the city. He did as Jesus instructed, and the results were unbelievable. He was able to see for the first time in his life.
Maybe today you can identify with this man. Maybe you’ve been thinking that nobody cares for you. Maybe you’ve been feeling rejected, forgotten, judged or overlooked. If you have been, I have good news for you. Jesus cares about you. In fact, Jesus loves you. So, without asking you, Jesus did something outrageous to show you his love; He died on the cross and rose at the third day.
You are loved, appreciated, well-regarded, and valued by God. In the name of Jesus, I pray today you can see that.
