Daniel 6:1-28
2 Peter 3:1-18
Psalm 119:129-152
Proverbs 28:21-22

Verse of the day:

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. (2 Peter 3:9)

When I was a kid and would hear a message about the rapture it always made me feel like it was going to happen imminently.  If I couldn’t find my parents in the house my instant thought was always that the rapture had happened and that I had missed it causing lots of freak out moments! Living with this expectation of Jesus’ soon return I never thought I would graduate from high school, go to college, get married, or have kids.

Well, time has continued to pass and all the things that I thought I would never be able to do because the rapture would happen I’ve done.  What’s the deal? Why hasn’t Jesus returned yet? I thought all the signs that we have been waiting for to happen have come to pass? Why is He waiting so long? Peter here tells us that these are questions that have been being asked for nearly 2000 years.  That’s a really long time!  Jesus however is not being slow in His return. He is being patient. He wants as many people as will turn to Him to turn to Him before He returns. He wants no one to miss out on being in relationship with Him.

If you are starting to feel like time is just passing and Jesus is never going to return let me assure you that with each day that passes we are that much closer to His return! Don’t allow the time passing to cause you to become idle.  Busy yourself with Jesus’ mission of not wanting any to be destroyed and show others the way to repentance!
