“My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

(Psalm 27:8)

I read an article this week that I thought was sad. The title grabbed my attention with stating, “Millennials are the loneliest generation.” There was a research study done by YouGov this past July that found that 22% of millennials reported that they have no friends. That ends up being around 1 in 5. That is a tremendously sad statistic.

If you feel like you have no friends, social media only amplifies the lonely feeling when you see people you know out with friends having fun and making memories. It can leave you feeling very lonely and unwanted. But the truth is no matter how many friends we have, or don’t have, we are wanted. We have a creator who calls out to us and says, “Come and talk with me.” His desire is to spend time with us and communicate with us.

I’ve found that early in the morning before anyone else is awake in my home the Lord will wake me up and I will feel the pull to go spend time with Him. But I always have a choice to make in that moment. Will I go back to sleep? Will I get up and start taking care of other responsibilities that I have? Will I waste time? Or will I respond, “Lord, I am coming”

As wonderful as friendships are and as important as they are they will never quench our loneliness like God will. He is calling out to you today to spend time with Him…Will you accept His invitation?
