Verse of the day

But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

(Ephesians 4:20-24, NLT)

According to the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, the longer you are exposed to a chemical, the more likely you are to be affected by it. If a chemical exposure continues over a long period of time, it is extremely hazardous because of the amount of chemicals accumulated in the body or because the damage to the body does not have a chance to be repaired. An exposure to toxic chemicals will always have an effect on a person.

Likewise, a faith filled exposure to the grace of God will always have an effect on a person. In the beginning, it will make you aware of your sin; it will lead you to repent and it will give you the certainty that you have been forgiven.

However, the longer you are exposed to the grace of God the greater the changes to your heart, mind, and actions. As you cultivate your relationship with Christ, His presence will permeate who you are and it will lead you to be more like your Savior.

Although we will never be perfect this side of eternity, you should be able to see a distinct, even if small, difference between who you were before coming to Christ and the person you are now as you strive to live for Him.

Are you changing? Are your growing? Are your thoughts, decisions, and actions reflecting that you’ve been exposed to the grace of God?
