You = Heart

Verse of the day:
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23)
What’s your most valuable possession? If your house is burning down, what one thing are you grabbing for sure? Your phone? That’d probably be my thing. Who means the most to you? Who’s the one person you want to spend the most time with today? Who (which I hope you never have to) would you save if in complete danger?
When it comes to our life, the thing the wise writer of Proverbs 4 stresses is the most important thing to protect, cherish, and nurture is our hearts. He’s not necessarily speaking to a physical healthy heart, even though that is important. He’s more writing about the things we let seep into our heart, the core of who we are and what our character reflects.
Who you are is a representation of what your heart is. If you’re sneaky, you have a sneaky heart. If you are joyful, it’s because you have a joy in your heart. Guard your heart, protect, value it, cherish, nurture it above anything else you do for yourself because your heart dictates the person you’re going to be.
